Dear
Colleague
The
International Scientific Committee (ISC)
and the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) would like to invite you to
participate in the 9th International Workshop on Microwave
Discharges: Fundamentals and Applications, from
Monday 7th to Friday 11th,
September 2015 (arrival on September 6th),
which will take place in Cordoba (Spain).
Conference
Venue
The MD-9
Workshop will
be held in the Ayre Hotel Cordoba, located just outside the city.
The accommodation of the participants will be in the same
place.
General
Information
The International
Workshop "Microwave Discharges: Fundamentals and Applications" is a
three year periodical meeting which is held by turns in Russia and
other
countries. The main purpose is to discuss recent achievements in the
study of
microwave plasmas, identify directions for future research and promote a close
relationship among scientists from different countries.
Conference
Scope
The
scientific program covers all modern aspects of microwave discharges
connecting
fundamental research and applications. The preliminary topics of the
workshop
are:
- Methods of microwave plasma
generation.
- High and low pressure
microwave discharges.
- Continuous wave and pulsed
microwave
discharges.
- Interaction of microwaves
with plasma.
- Discharge modeling and
diagnosis.
- Applications of microwave
plasmas (surface
treatment, etching, film deposition, growth of structures, ecology,
improvement
of burning processes, light sources, plasma medicine, analytical
chemistry, etc).
Selected
topics of closely-related gas discharge problems can also be discussed.
History
The
idea of
holding of International Workshops on Microwave Discharges in the
present
format was first held in Zvenigorod (Russia) in 1994. It was decided to
transform it into a periodical meeting. The International Scientific
Committee
was elected and the Constitution of the Workshop was accepted. The
Constitution
defines the principles of the Workshop. Part of them is that the
Workshop
should be held alternatively in Russia and other countries with the
period of three
years. It was decided to begin a numbering of Workshops line from the
NATO ARW
(1992) with the same name.
Now
the
Workshop is the popular specialized conference in the field of
microwave plasma
physics and applications where the recent achievements and urgent
problems in
this promising area of science and technology are discussed.
The
calendar of past International Workshops was:
1992,
May
11-15, NATO ARW Workshop, Vimeiro, Portugal. Director C.M. Ferreira.
1994,
September 5-8, Zvenigorod, Russia. Chairman A.A. Rukhadze.

Talks
and Paper Presentations
The
program
will consist of general lectures (35 min), topical lectures (20 min)
and poster
presentations. Parallel sections are not planned.
The
International Scientific Committee (ISC) will select speakers to give
general
and topical lectures and for poster presentations. To allow the
selection, one page abstract is required. Abstracts will
be published in a booklet
and will be handed out at the beginning of the Workshop.
Speakers
are requested to submit an article at the start of the workshop. The
Workshop
proceedings will be refereed and published as a book or CD-ROM after
the
Workshop. The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) will send the
proceedings to all
registered participants immediately after publishing. For publishing an
article
in the proceedings it is necessary that at least one of the authors is
registered and participates.
